Million Dollar Blockages

Well now, its almost a week since I made the Million Dollar Commitment and I have been reflecting much on where this is leading me and where I feel challenged.

Since I am approaching this experiment from a personal growth and raising of consciousness perspective I am far more concerned with how my beliefs and attitudes effect my ease or dis-ease at manifesting a substantial sum of money. This is of far more interest to me than simply setting off the make a million for money’s sake.

I like money, money is useful and can be liberating and fun but what I treasure far more is my time and my freedom to direct my time as I choose with balance for family, work and leisure. I have been down the singularly focused 90 hour week build a business path already and it exacted a high price on intimate relationship and recreation time. Traditional paths to financial wealth tend to involve a lot of push and hustle. The intent here states “In an easy and relaxed manner…” Amen to that.

Listening in to myself over the past few days I am increasingly aware of areas where I do not feel quite so at ease or relaxed about manifesting a million dollars from new income sources. Yet, in order to manifest a million in an easy and relaxed manner I absolutely must be easy and relaxed about wealth and money.

Check out some of these limiting beliefs/images that are coming to my conscious awareness:

  • Making a million is greedy and not a legitimate aim, however you dress it up.
  • My friends will resent me.
  • You cannot make money and have time to enjoy yourself.
  • Its all too hard, better to stick with what you’ve got.
  • What makes you think your so clever anyway? Who do you think you are?
  • What if you fail? Don’t bother.

Now Steve covers the first one in depth here however I find that the only way I can shift a negative belief or get greater clarity on my true desires is to listen to the voice of wisdom within me. Another person’s interpretation of an issue is useful as guidance but ultimately I need to reach a certain place of knowing within me that releases a previously limiting mindset in a full bodied manner. That is I become clear on an issue, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

To do this I have to hold a question lightly in my mind and meditate for an intuitive understanding that opens me to my deeper truth. So looking at the list above, here goes. I am writing as if I am being spoken to but really it is more a stream of understanding or comprehension that I am verbalising as best as I can here.

  • Making a million is greedy and not a legitimate aim, however you dress it up.

When you consider the intention you have aligned with notice that the making or receiving of money is not actually what is truly inspiring you. You feel inspired by the possibility that a great many of the difficulties the world experiences with money could be eased by a demonstration of a different way to wealth. That is your inspiration rather than the money itself and that will continue to guide you. It is clearly not a greedy or fear based motive.

  • My friends will resent me.

Is it not rather more likely that your friends will be very curious?

  • You cannot make money and have time to enjoy yourself.

Didn’t you mention something about making a million for the fun of it? Yes it’s going to be fun!

  • Its all too hard, better to stick with what you’ve got.

Oh really? Do you really believe that wholeheartedly? Umm thought not”

  • What makes you think your so clever anyway? Who do you think you are?

One who is willing to take a risk, one who dreams of creative freedom with ease and joy. Why not me?

  • What if you fail? Don’t bother.

And then what? How can you fail? Eventually you will make the million if you hold alignment with the intent. You cannot fail as long as you remain committed.

Each of these small replies or nudges brings me back to hope, joy and greater clarity. And you know what its true, I cannot fail unless I choose to and that is a very encouraging thought.

    Thanks for introducing me to the Experiment. I finding this fun! That’s right, fun! Now that’s a switch on the money front right there.

    I’ve been blogging about it, too, and talking with folks. It’s amazing how many people immediately thought it was a scam. That speaks volumes. At first I noticed my need to convince them it wasn’t and then I realized that it didn’t matter what they thought. I was manifesting a million dollars – the best explanation, if one were ever needed, is the outcome itself.
