Little ego, big ego, non ego, greater ego, higher self, oneness - eh?

18. October 2005

I observe a great deal of confusion around the issue of the ego. However I also believe that understanding of the facets of the ego is essential to embracing a full and abundant life. So here is my summary of what it is all about.

  • The human ego at its simplest is our sense of self, our personal identification of who we are. I am, therefore, I am.
  • The Universe, Nature, God etc. represents the unity of all things, all energy, all consciousness, all possibilities, probabilities, everything, both known and unknown.
  • Human conscious awareness as experienced through the individuated personal ego senses itself as separate from the world around it. I am me that is a tree. Flesh and bone / wood and leaves.
  • I kill you, I survive, you kill me, I die.
  • The human ego wants to live and exists to survive and protect its limited sense of self. Yet it remains fearful to some degree because it knows ultimately of its limited existence; that death awaits with the prospective close to the human ego experience.
  • It is this fear factor within the human ego experience that leads to the many great injustices of the world. I am separate I must survive even if you do not is the belief.
  • Once the human ego self experiences a felt sense of the oneness of all life its level of fear and self protection softens.
  • Once the human ego self learns to access the full felt sense of the oneness of all life and death at will, by conscious choice, then the grip of the ego is further released and limited self identity becomes nothing more than a useful tool for personal experience in relationship to the All.
  • A form of higher ego now comes into consciousness as the sense of self becomes much more encompassing I am me and I am we. However with this also comes a deeper sense of personal identity, peace and confidence. It is good to be you, it is right to be you.
  • With this realisation comes a more conscious desire to not only serve the self but also the all.
  • The ego self now becomes aligned to the pursuit of self gratification through the advancement of the All and the self.
  • Life now moves through the ego rather than the ego moving through life. The ego becomes co-creator rather than victim.
  • Life now becomes ever more full of meaning purpose and abundance.

This is what this web site is about – the path to wholeness. A state of profound inner peace with a deep and abiding knowing that we are one. You never reach the end of the path though because each new level of understanding invites you further along that very path.

There are many many paths to wholeness, my intention is simply to guide and inspire you to keep looking, searching, questioning…to blaze your own new trail of discovery.

Namaste.

    All that I am
    Is that which I am
And that which I am is I
    And whatever I am
I shall be what I am
    The Infinite Eternal I
