Live 8 - A Better World?
4. July 2005
Saturday 2nd July 2005 was a very moving and memorable day for me as I enjoyed the Live 8 concerts. I was deeply moved and encouraged. Billions of people united by the act of watching the concerts globally and thereby also considering, in some part, the substantial issues of global poverty, debt relief, aid and fair-trade. Billions of people actively questioning the workings of humanity and also demanding positive change from their elected leaders. Very encouraging indeed!
The Rough Guide To A Better World offers a concise but highly informative overview of the issues and what you or I can do to help at a very practical level. That is along with signing the list of course.

But how can we reconcile the plight of the war torn and poverty stricken of the world when considering our “abundance issues”?
I see it like this. Can I help the sick by becoming ill? Can I feed the starving by starving? Can I stop the warring by warring? I doubt it.
However if I can create peace, happiness, joy and plenty in my life then that is surely going to touch those around me. If I can live fully with integrity and respect for my fellow man then I can make a difference. If I can learn to enjoy the abundance of life and share that knowledge with others then maybe that will help?
I hope so.
