Free, Free, Free, it has to be Free....

Now and then I do some Gooooogling around the keyword Abundance and visit some of the many sites offering advice and or products relating to Abundance, naturally.
I was struck today by how many of these sites and others use the “Free” hook. “Free ebook” “Free teleseminar” “Free chapter” “Free ecourse” etc. Clearly this is a very effective marketing technique but what does it tell us about us?
That we fear lack maybe? As we know there isn’t enough any freebies are very hard to ignore and should not be wasted because we may have to pay next time (As in the “Free trial, limited time only” promotion) and before we know it we are drawn into purchasing a product or service because whilst the free product was interesting it did not quite give us what we really wanted, we needed more, it wasn’t enough.
So we fear lack initially and then frequently whatever we get isn’t enough for us. Ripe insecurities for the marketing guys to prey on and the foundations for a society based on rampant consumerism.
How might it look if we knew abundance, not lack and if we recognised our real needs, knowing when enough was enough for us personally?
- We know there is plenty so whether something is free or not is of little consequence. We can exercise greater conscious discernment about what products or services we require without fear of wasting our resources.
- Because we know and feel that there is enough we are more generous. We share without fear.
- We are able to recognise our true personal requirements and effortlessly ignore “bargains” and “freebies” if they are not truly relevant to us in that moment.
- We know when we have enough, food, money, exercise, sleep, sex, alcohol etc. and we know when we do not.
- In short we become empowered to live freely.
Sounds good eh? And how do we attain this happy state of balance? I suggest that the very first step is actually recognising this initial fear of lack and noticing how it plays out in your life. That little aha can give you the impetus to seek a different path, a desire for change. Secondly you could try acting “as if”, faking it. What would it be like to live freely in this moment, how would it FEEL? Feeling good will bring you good. The core of your being knows no limits and time in meditation and/or quiet reflection can guide you closer to your greater or deeper self where unique solutions tailored perfectly for you shall come to consciousness as ideas, feelings, impulses and coincidences. First step is the urge for change and the recognition of previously unconscious habits.
Simplifying your life will give you time to connect within and evaluate your needs. There are some good suggestions here.
May the Force be with you.
