The Heart Of The Matter
14. March 2005
That is an interesting thread of words, “The heart of the matter” one that I believe holds a very useful clue for those manifesting a consciously designed life. Barbara Brennan describes the heart chakra as being the bridge to the spiritual world where we enter into a relationship with the spiritual realms beyond our physical body. When you look at this conversely the heart chakra can be viewed as the bridge over which spirit can move into our physical world; where spirit becomes matter. So the heart or heart chakra could truly be the heart of the matter.
What if you’ve never heard of a chakra? It matters not! Whether you believe in such an energetic physiology really makes no difference but the awareness of such a construct may be useful to you as a focus for visualisation and increasing felt sense. The results are more useful than the theory.
There is an old saying “The heart asks no questions and the mind has no answers” and I have found this to be true for me. My mind can analyse and gnaw at a problem or situation indefinitely and produce a host of differing scenarios or possibilities. Many logical, rational, outcomes spring to mind but which to choose? Which is the best course of action or inaction? I have found that when you “listen” to your heart and your mind you really learn to trust that the workings of life do support you. All that is required is clear intention and practice.
HOW?
Practice feeling your heart, make it your intention to develop the felt sense of your heart, a simple choice, no pressure, no demand. Just say to yourself I now choose to feel my heart or heart chakra. Breathe in and with that in breath draw your conscious awareness to that place in your chest where you feel your heart to be.
I feel this a as warm glow within that is emensely comforting. At first you may feel little or nothing even but do not be “disheartened” keep practicing. Think of a loved one or a very happy time that you can recall and draw that into the awareness of your heart. With practice you will be able to connect here with ease and simply rest in that moment, in the warmth of your heart. You will know when you touch in to this sense as you will feel great warmth, peace and contentment. This feeling may be fleeting at first but keep playing; these fleeting moments will steer your course and keep you on target.
Once you have this sense developed to some degree you can then start bringing your decisions or problems here for clarification. You could imagine dragging and dropping computer style. Click on one of your potential choices in your head (Any choice, it does not have to be life changing) and then with your imaginary mouse pointer drag and drop it onto your heart and see how that feels.
Does it “lift” your heart or does it “lower” your heart? Do you feel more or less content? It is oh so subtle but yet it can also be so clear in amongst all the other emotions that may be present if you are making a difficult choice. Use your intention and direct your focus towards feeling not thinking. I am writing this from that heart centred place in me. You can allow the energy of my connection to lift your felt sense of your heart in this moment as you read this.
Be kind to yourself and practice with low stress daily tasks such as, what to eat, when to rest, who to call etc.
I find this technique a guiding force and the heart of the matter, living a heart centred life. When you bring your mind, your heart and your actions into alignment then life changes. You move with the world and the world moves with you. There is way less struggle and way more ease because you are feeling safe, feeling the fullness of your heart; abundant and whole.
