Why am I here?
1. March 2005
Well this little site of mine has been live for a month now and I am called to look a little deeper at what my goals or needs for the site are.
Quite simply I have something to say about how we live our lives that needs an outlet. I cannot keep it to myself and a few close friends or clients anymore. I also love the way the medium of the internet brings people together in discussion and sharing so easily. A web site and ‘blog seem the perfect way for one to engage with the world at large outside of more formal groups and forums.
Once the “world at large” finds me that is and then further decides that they wish to hear what I have to say.
At this early stage with relatively few visitors I feel as if I am writing a journal in private and then dropping it next to a very busy street. Most people pass by quite oblivious to its existence but occasionally someone picks it up, takes a peak and drops it down again.
Sometimes someone will go “Hey look at this” and show some people before dropping it down again. However over time I like to think people will start consciously looking for the book in the street and gain comfort from knowing that.
- The book is still there.
- Something new has been added.
- They found it an enjoyable book to browse.
So back to my needs and goals. What are they?
- Need 1: Recognition or confirmation that I actually do have something useful to offer and that I might actually be able to contribute positively to the lives of others.
- Goal 1: Make a positive difference in the world.
- Goal 2: Not concern myself with Need 1 because that seems to take energy away from Goal 1.
Happy March!
