Manifesting – Beyond the basics…
13. November 2007
Some seven years ago I penned the article “Manifesting – The Basics”, since then I’ve been researching by way of the experiment that is my life and offer this follow up article as a further look at the subject of manifesting what you want and by implication, living more fully and happily, which is the target I suspect that most of us are engaged upon to some degree.
Ok let’s go back to part one in this series. I summed the steps of manifesting as follows:
1. Clarify what it is you are wishing to manifest.
2. Determine why you want, feel, need and deserve this.
3. Set quiet time aside to allow yourself the full feeling of “knowing” that this desire is now on its way to being fulfilled in your life.
4. Do whatever personal practices you require to maintain your positive attitude and feelings of faith and optimism high.
5. Continually note what action is required on your part to bring your creation into existence and act upon it. Right thought leads to right action; you will have to get things done. Think – Feel – Do
I still largely agree with those steps but offer some further considerations to them.
1. Clarify what it is you are wishing to manifest.
There are many levels to this first step. Initially you might come up with lists of things like, money, cars, jobs, toys etc. but why do you want them? What will they really give you? Perhaps what you really want is to feel differently about what you’ve already got now? Or maybe you just want to feel safe, loved and supported by life?
2. Determine why you want, feel, need and deserve this.
Well I think this step may be skipped because it is such a minefield for negative self-judgements but it could still be worth a bit of thought. Not too much though or you may well end up in a circle of confusion from which you feel you do not need or deserve anything really. Perhaps you should rather explore deeply what it is that allows you feelings of deservedness and expand on that.
3. Set quiet time aside to allow yourself the full feeling of “knowing” that this desire is now on its way to being fulfilled in your life.
Ah now this is a good one, your “knowing” may be confirmed by a continued strong interest in manifesting any particular desire or by the complete absence of such continued interest (Due to your “knowing” that its “in production” and now needs no further conscious attention from you even if only for now at least). Often we may be enthused by something briefly but fail to find any lasting interest in it, no matter, move on to something else.
4. Do whatever personal practices you require to maintain your positive attitude and feelings of faith and optimism high.
This is the one, the key to all positive creations, raise your vibration, its the so called “Law Of Attraction” as taught by Jerry and Esther Hicks, amongst others, through their Abraham materials and recently highlighted in the film “The Secret”. My personal practice is to allow my mind to calm and become ever more present to the perfection of the NOW which further allows my heart to open at which point I feel very much at ease with all that is, truly receptive and full of gratitude. How do you do that? Practice, practice, practice, recognise simply that you wish to calm your mind and allow that to be. Watching your thoughts from a detached perspective is an excellent start as this takes you out of ego identification with the ramblings of your thoughts, you move into the quiet state of being where all is well. Practice this and you’ll find the circumstances of your life will then guide you towards whatever training, therapy, hobbies etc. that you may need to engage in to deepen this awareness. Simple as that, go with the flow, follow your heart, keep dreaming hopeful dreams and choosing positive thoughts.
5. Continually note what action is required on your part to bring your creation into existence and act upon it. Right thought leads to right action; you will have to get things done. Think – Feel – Do
Here I suggest that your biggest action is attention to item #4 from there on the rest is almost effortless even if it is a lot of “work”. You’ll be feeling inspired which isn’t “work” and that is very sustaining.
Now ponder this if you will-
Explore the premise that you are already getting exactly what you really want. No, you think, how could that be when it seems that so much of your experience of life appears not to be what you think you want at all? (By virtue of experiences of continued, strife, struggle, confusion, conflict, illness, poverty, grief etc.)
Please, stick with this thought, you’ve really got what you want but think that you haven’t because you do not like what you’ve got? The not liking part is just judgements and feelings evoked by your ego demanding that life bends to its will, a refusal to simply accept what is as is. Once you’ve accepted your life now you are far more able to take steps to improve your circumstances because you are not in resistance to what is. This experience of contrast allows you to continually refine your ideas of what it is that you do want and draw more of your attention to manifesting that rather than resisting what is. Taking the approach that a greater all knowing you has drawn everything you are currently experiencing into your life for reasons as yet unknown can actually open you to a much more empowered state of being. One of great trust, grace, acceptance and ease because now you are enquiring into how to best deal with what you’ve got rather than avoiding and blaming what you’ve got on others and railing against it. Now you can deeply engage in living your life rather than avoiding it. Now you are consciously working with the creations of your unconscious.
And could it be that all your experiences, dreams, set backs, and desires are leading you tirelessly towards even greater conscious awareness of exactly who it is that you truly are and what you really seek? And could it be that all your desires are equally valid and that all desires may lead you to greater awareness of the full nature of your being, be that through contrasting paths of either joy or pain, that what you need and what you want are not really so very far apart? And could it be that the entire might of Life the Universe and Everything is yielding entirely to your every whim in ways unknown but that you’d forgotten this and thought you had to do it all alone?
What then?
Namaste.
