Greed or Abundance?

18. October 2006

Many talk about how all the problems of this world are brought about by greed and corruption etc. etc. and may suggest that a so called abundance consciousness is simply more greed dressed in a different frock.

I doubt if there will be a consensus on this any time soon but this is my take on the subject.

What I am suggesting and promoting on this web-site is that abundance is a state of being, an attitude, awareness, a presence even. Its an inner knowing that calls quietly to say “all is well there is plenty, you are safe, trust…” It encourages you to be generous and take risks, buoyed by the knowledge of plenty, free from the fears and limits imposed by others. From that awareness we are empowered to make choices that benefit those around us and empower others. We no longer seek to manipulate, contain and control others in order to have our needs met.

Greed on the other hand is born form the very real fear of lack based upon a belief that you must fight to survive and grab all you can get and get and get before someone else gets it and your chance is gone. But you can never get enough because the empty hunger of fear can never be satiated with more possessions or money it can only be filled from within by a feeling of love and abundance.

Its a form of greed that may motivate us to buy things because they are cheap or a bargain, the 3 for the price of two mentality that has us spending more to buy more than we really want. Marketeers understand greed very well and play on our fears to induce us to buy. Greed will have us kill and fight wars over oil and water and food and land etc. Abundance however allows us to share, trust and have compassion for our fellow human. Abundance remains forever full, hopeful and optimistic.

Abundance offers a hopeful greed free vision for the future.

After all what would the world be like if we all lived free from the anxiety of lack. What if there really was enough for us all to live full and abundant lives?

What if we lived the lives of our dreams rather settling for the lives expected or demanded by others?

What if we were all happy, joyful, abundant, full and free?

Not much room for lack then but of course this can never be as long as we believe there is not enough…

Abundance reveals itself within the fullness of your heart, its a feeling beyond reason however well mentally grasped. Seek abundance within and it will be revealed little by little, step by step…
