The Wonder Of Humanity

13. July 2005

Running wild the avalanche crumbled into momentary calm
waiting fretfully for the first sign of permanence
Not now
In distant lands a new threat lingered, poised
upon that same uncertainty

The still movement of the invisible permeated
all such events now, as then
But what little comfort was that
Could an answer be found in such random acts
As likely not, but then again…

So with this brooding malevolence
Came the certainty of certainty
Birth and death
Pain and comfort
Ease and struggle
Known unknown
What now

What fresh questions feed the new answers
and with this new found understanding
What then
Silence rising to a crescendo
of total indifference

Momentarily I pause in my work
Do I touch you or you me
And if I fear you
Do we prosper
And if you fear me
Do you prosper

And what is prosperity anyway
The new found sense of purpose enjoyed
by those born disadvantaged
Or the righteous certainty
that my answers will soothe you

And what indulgence is this anyway
Humanity winding its tortuous path
Peacefully at war with the change
it is destined to become
Whilst destiny looks on with the tireless love
known only to a mother

Maybe now you will see
The questions and answers
Relate only to you and never to me
How can that be
Yes, how can that be
I know you but you do not
Know me…

And until that time we live
In times of total
Blissful, joyous
Uncertainly.
